Match results are in...

It's crazy how they do things in medical school but for those who don't know the process, over the last year Ryan has been doing rotations all over in programs he is interested in. He has spent two months in Texas and about six weeks in Ohio, not to mention all his roatations in Utah and Arizona. Ryan has always wanted to pursue a career in anesthesia and after four years in medical school he is more determined than ever that this is the field for him. However, anesthesia is extremely competitive and the match process is crazy. Ryan submitted applications to programs he was interested in and then set out for interviews and began the whole match process. We ranked programs we were interested in and then the programs rank their potential applicants. Then everything gets put into the computer and a selection is made (after months of waiting). Texas was Ryan's first choice as he was extremly impressed with the program, people and area. Needless to say, we are going to Dallas, Texas and feel very blessed as this has been quite the ordeal in our family. I would love to say we were coming back to Utah as we really miss our family and friends but I know this is where we are suppose to be (for the next four years that is...I would be lying if I didn't admit how much I am anticipating being back home.)We will be moving shortly after graduation in June as Ryan starts residency July 1st. We will miss Arizona and the friends and memories we have made the last four years but look forward to the adventures ahead. Ryan has worked so hard and I am so proud of him and couldn't be more excited that he finally will be doing something he has always dreamed about. Ryan, we love you and congratulations!!

That sounds very complex - I am glad he gets to go to his first choice though! Congratulations - I am sure Texas will be nice even if it is temporary.

Congratulations! This is totally exciting. Even though it is always a pain to move, it usually ends up being fun in the end, ya know?
