This was an event we had to capture on film....first time in a long while Ryan was able to attend all three meetings of church with us. I should have been in this picture as I am sure I had a perma-grin knowing that I would not be wrestling Jackson alone in Sacrament Meeting this week!
Being on a budget and trapped in doors due to a week of pure rain and humidity (yuck) while trying to keep two toddlers quiet, so their poor Dad could sleep (on a cot in the closet) led to this burst of creativity...
That's right fruit loop necklaces....counts for the activity and the treat! Seriously who'd of thought a box of cereal could be so fun?!
Another masterpiece...
Lov'in being able to get a round. Yes, he is eight months old and barely rolling over in both directions but once he mastered it he hasn't stopped.
Another picture to document a rare occurrence...Bryton has never fallen asleep anywhere other than a bed (his or ours) or a moving car seat. I guess watching two toddlers go full force has a draining effect on everyone.
More fun...
After Ryan finished up on Friday we took the kids for haircuts (that's another story)and to the park.
Today, Madison's little friend had a birthday party so the fam. headed over to the big event. We got a lot of pictures but I was careful on what I selected to post because I am not sure everyone wants their child featured on our blog. The party was great...there was a petting zoo, pony rides, lunch, bubbles, and more. Hope Maddie doesn't get any big ideas for next year.
Madison thought the pony with pink hair was the best!
Back to the haircut story...there is definitely something to say about getting a good hair cut from a GOOD salon. We have been trying to grow Madison's hair out so I haven't had it cut since December but we have an appointment on Tues. to get her picture taken. So I thought (first mistake) while Ryan was getting his hair cut I would have Madison get a trim. Really how hard is it to keep the same style and just trim the ends. Apparently hard! After an intense explanation confirming the fact that I didn't want any length off...just a request to "reshape" her current cut. (Mistake #2) I guess we both had our own idea of what "reshape" meant. Is it just me or is the right side (according to the picture) of her hair way longer than the left? (The picture doesn't even do it justice, as the real short part is tucked back behind. Just know that it was obvious enough that someone thought she cut her own hair!) And this was after I cut some off to try an even it up. Why not make a bad situation worse...ya, (mistake #3) I took her back to have a different lady fix it and let's just say there will be no pictures on Tuesday and poor Madison has shorter hair than she ever has. Good thing she is so cute because the style is not. I guess there is a reason I have always been paranoid about who cuts our hair...I think we are done with hair cuts for awhile...I can't take much more.
Moral of story....pay to go to a good salon and leave mistake #1 so you don't have to deal with a mistake#2!
This is what was left! Hopefully it grows out fast.

What a birthday party, holy cow! And I hear ya about the single parenthood thing... I'm so glad it's not a permanent situation! I really feel for moms that have to do it all AND work outside the home. It sounds like you had a full week - I wouldn't call that nothing! It's the nitty gritties of daily life that color everything! =) So has Ryan seen anyone with swine flu yet???
You are super woman! My grandma would say "This too shall pass" :o) Thats too bad about the hair cut! I totally agree with you on the you get what you pay for thing! I'll never set foot in a Dollar Cuts again!
That was for a birthday party for a little kid? Seriously, who does that!?! Amazing. And I am still amazed that you are still alive and that your kids are still alive. I couldn't do what you do day in and day out. You are inspiring!!! I wish I was around so we could deal with our kids together!
Madison still DOES look cute. She could probably have a shaved head and still be cute! And I was very unsatisfied with Oakleys last cut too. How hard can it be to cut a straight line?
Is it LEGAL to dye a pony's hair that color?!? Crazy. Madison is still a doll even with the crooked haircut. Hopefully Ryan's crazy shifts are done soon? You are such a cute mom to do all those fun activities with your kids!
A week of rain?!? That is the pits! Fruit-loop necklaces ARE a fun activity. If you make the string twice as long, it will take them more time and then they can wrap it twice around their neck. Or they can thread macaroni too. Also, when I was at a babysitter's house once, we stuck toothpicks into cold peas to make buildings, boxes and other stuff.
Good luck and hang in there!
