A few weekends back we experienced our families first "real" camping trip. The best part is that the camping grounds and lake are only five minutes from our house. Ryan had the week off and by the time the weekend rolled around we were itchin for something to do. Friday afteroon we, well Ryan climbed into the attic and pulled out all our gear that has gone untouched for years now. Then we loaded it all up and headed out to find a spot. It was suppose to rain so it was a bit overcast and I was worried about mosquitoes (if you don't recall our last experience with these little critters refer to last September's post) luckily for us there were very few bugs and it only rained after we were all settled in our tent for the night. After we set up camp we headed to the store to get ourselves a few meals....I know, we are quite the campers! :)
So here it goes...
Most important was the campfire.
If you look real close, Bryton is attempting to blow out the fire.
Oh ya...what is better than a good hot dog dinner.
Man those smores are messy!
Cooking popcorn.....
Ryan was so excited to show this to the kids.
He is even an Eagle Scout! I guess we need to refine our skills a bit, better luck next time honey! The kids thought it was really disgusting as you can imagine.
Just making sure things were alright inside.
Watching a movie before bed.
Breakfast.... a little yogurt with granola and fruit, oh and donuts wouldn't be a Yeates trip without them. :)
Exploring....
Two days just weren't enough, the time went by way too fast and no one was ready to come home. Oh, note to self....take a pack and play next time for Bryton. :) The kids did great and loved every minute of it I think the highlight was just having Dad around for longer than a few hours! We just may be visiting the camp ground around the corner more often.

Love it! How fun that you live so close to a campground. I'm not big on the camping thing but this made me kind of want to go! Little B trying to blow out the fire is too funny & love the popcorn story.
Cute pictures & I'm glad you had a fun little vacation!
Fun! I am glad your first experience went well! And how nice to have a spot so close!
And you look too cute to be camping!
How fun! Todd is super excited to take Izzie camping, but I'm not sure I'm ready to take a 9 month old! :)
